Lalique is more than just a name, it is a highly talented family, comprising three generations of artists of international fame.

Rene Lalique started as a designer in 1880, but it was in 1907 that the great perfumer, Francois Coty, seduced by the creations of Rene Lalique, proposed that he should use his technical expertise and artistic talent in the services of the perfume industry.

Francois Coty had a view to creating what he predicted would be "a business of a kind the world had never seen before."

At the beginning of the 20th Century, the notion of "perfume packaging" did not exist as we understand it today.The work performed by Rene Lalique showed that it was possible to use mechanical porcesses to mass produce articles of considerable artistic merit.
